Funky Rooster

Thank you Jane Eborall for the January TIAS. The neck area became twisted but I forgot to change threads for the beak and didn't add a big bead. The rooster has 2 eyeballs.."All the better to see with"! I added some orange thread to the beak. Jane did a great job explaining every step including pictures of "how to". Fun Project during the winter snow!

Red Doily

I have been working on Nancy Tracy's, "Mom's Pink Doily", www.be.stitched.com.
The thread is Lizbeth size 20 #151 Angel's Love. The pattern is very easy till you get to the row with very long threads, the last row I finished. It is very important to use a marker to make sure the long threads are all the same. I mark my finger the length and it is even through out. When I joined the last round it still cupped up but washing and laying it out, it all laid out smoothly. I have taken a break from this project to work on my heart valentine cards.

Redwork Christmas

Starting off the year right finishing a redwork UFO! It still needs to be quilted. The redwork are patterns from Helga Curtis in the book "Thimble Tots & Dragonflies". This is a wonderful book with lots of illustrations. I put the youngsters on a road with all their sewing equipment to help Mrs Mouse make and hang the Christmas ornaments! The Christmas ornaments are fussy cut, sewed right sides together and turned inside out and attached to the material with the beads. The clothesline is tatted and the birdhouses are appliqued on. A mitered border completes the quilt.

TIAS by Jane

Here is my TIAS. My bead should have been bigger and I have twisted to where it was to be attached. In the beginning it was very easy and great instructions but as Day 8 came along it was a challenge!! A fun project!

Christmas Exchange 09

My SS package arrived today in very good shape from Santiago Chile to Skagway (very close to North Pole, AK) and finally to Tucumcari, NM. Skagway's zip code is 99840 (this was on the package) and NM is 88401.
Thank you very much Lima Luna Leiva. This gal was very busy making snowflakes, seven beautifully tatted with beads. A nice card with a gorgeous tatted tree with gold beads. A Hairpin lace frame, 2 balls of variegated threads, 2 shuttles and a hook, package of self threading needles and 2 post cards of Chile. I would love to go and visit Chile.
I am sure Lima was wondering where her package went to and I am so glad to receive it. I thought it had to do with the weather as we have had more snow than usual in NM!
Many, Many thanks Lima and I love my gifts especially the tatted tree and snowflakes. Will treasure them always.

Here are two new crosses from Linda Davies and Wendy Durell.
Wendy's cross has split rings on the outside and plain rings on the inside. It was tatted with Cebelia size 30 thread and works up quickly. A very good way to practice split rings. Her pattern can be found at http://www.durell.me.uk/. If this link does not work try http://www.wendytats.blogspot.com/.

Linda Davies's cross bookmark is tatted with a medallion, cut and tied. The outside cross is attached to the medallion. Very easy and also works up quickly. The cross was tatted with Lizbeth size 20 thread. Her pattern can be found at http://www.toptattyhead.blogspot.com/ .
Thank you ladies for the beautiful patterns.

Happy New Year of 2010

Happy 2010 New Year to all. As a child growing up in the 50's & 60's we often talked about 2000 and if we would still be here! Well it is 2010 and unbelievable we are still here!!! It is a beautiful, sunny day and up in the 40's. That is a heat wave for NM. My DH butterflied a pork roast, stuffed it with apple stuffing, and rolled it up to bake. Yummy. The past few weeks I have been working on the Art League booklet. There are 3 businesses we put an exhibit of art in their lobby every month and I take the photos. It makes a nice booklet. I have 3 art work on the left, Silk Ribbon lady, tatted hearts with the doggies and the ocean with the palm trees. In the pictures of the officers I am in the middle with a dark collar serving as VP. After inserting all the pages in the booklet, I sewed a seam down. Much better than staples.
